Bansko is situated at the foot of the majestic Pirin Mountains,
160km south of Bulgarias capital, Sofia at an altitude of 950m. The
snow-capped peaks of Pirin dominate this town, which has a population
of some 12,000 inhabitants.
Bansko is the newest ski and mountain resort in Bulgaria and the
most rapidly developing. This fashionable and exciting ski resort
is an interesting combination between the virgin nature of the Pirin
Mountains and the atmosphere of the small, ancient Bulgarian town.
It is currently a 2014 Winter Olympics candidate.
The skiing conditions are excellent. The Pirin Mountains have an
Alpine character with three peaks towering above 2900m. The slopes
